The Savannah Bananas played the Lexington County Blowfish Friday evening at Grayson Stadium in front of another sold out crowd(4,296)). Savannah exploded for 7 runs in the 7th inning and won 11-2.
Lexington scored first scoring a run in the 2nd inning and scored their final run in the 4th inning.
In the third inning, Savannah scored 2 runs. Leading off the inning John Cassala,lf(Jacksonville) singled and moved to second on a single by Max McDougald,3b(Wofford). Both runners advanced a base on a pass ball. A single by Logan Mattix,,cf(Georgia College) scored Cassala. A ground out to third scored McDougald. The Bananas added 2,more runs in the 4th inning.
Sending 12 players to the plate in the 7th inning, Savannah scored 7 runs on 5 hits and 3 errors.
Starting Savannah pitcher, Bryan Cruse(Memphis) won,1-0 pitched 6 innings allowed 2 runs on 6 hits, struck out 8 and walked 2 batters. One run was earned.
Leading hitters for Savannah, Mattix and Cassala were both 3-for-4 with 2RBI's and a run scored. Savannah returns home on Monday at 7:05pm to play the High Point-Thomasville HiToms. The 2016 Savannah team will receive their rings for winning the CPL championship.
