The Savannah Bananas played the Lexington County Blowfish Thursday evening at Grayson Stadium in front of another sold out crowd(4,000 plus). It was the 4th straight home game sellout.
The Blowfish scored a run in the 1st inning-with the bases loaded a walk scored a run. Savannah tied the score in the bottom of the 1st inning when Logan Mattix,cf(George College) hit a home run over the left field fence.
Lexington scored 3 runs in the 2nd inning, 1 run in the 5th inning. In the 7th inning the Blowfish scored 2 runs- the bases were loaded and a single by Riley Hogan,1b(University of South Carolina) drove in the final 2 runs for Lexington.
Savannah scored 1 run in the 2nd inning and scored 2 runs in the 3rd inning. The final run for the Bananas occurred in the 7th inning when Brandon Purcell,c(Georgia College) singled, stole second and scored on a single by Christian Hollie,ss(UT-Arlington).
When interviewed after the game, Savannah Head Coach Sean West talked about "the game being won or lost off the bump." Savannah pitchers hit 3 batters and walked 12 batters.
Both teams had 7 hits. Lexington committed 7 errors and left 17 men on base.
The next home game for the Bananas is Saturday, June 10th against the Forrest City Owls starting at 7:05pm at Grayson Stadium. This game is sold out.
