The Savannah Bananas played the Lexington County Blowfish Wednesday evening, July 19th at Grayson Stadium in front of another sold out crowd,4,015.
Savannah utilized strong pitching and timely hitting to win the game 10-0. Two triples drove in 5 runs for the Bananas.
In the 3rd inning for Savannah, Bryce Fischer,lf(Oklahoma State) walked and advanced to second on a single by Anthony Brocato,,rf(St.Johns University). Both runners advanced a base on a pass ball and scored on a triple by L.J. Talley,1b(Georgia). A sac fly scored Talley.
Savannah scored a run in the 4th inning. Utah Jones,ss(University of North Carolina) singled and stole second and advanced to third on a ground out. Jones scored on a wild pitch.
Sending 10 batters to the plate for Savannah in the 5th inning, they scored 5 runs, highlighted by a triple by Christian Hollie,3b(University of Texas-Arlington) with the bases loaded.
A walk with the bases loaded in the 8th inning scored the final run for Savannah.
Starting pitcher for Savannah, Kyle Richardson(Texas A&M) had excellant controll pitching 7 shut out innings, allowed 3 hits, 1BB, and registered 8 strike outs. Banana relievers allowed 2 hits.
The Bananas banged out 13 hits for the game. Garrett Nelson,cf(Long Beach State) had 4 singles.
The next home game for Savannah is tomorrow night at Grayson Stadium against the Florence RedWolves starting at 7:05pm.
With the win Kyle Richardson is 1-1.
Fans missed coach West at the game last night. Pitching coach Arthur Stenburg and staff did a great job.
