The Savannah Bananas played the Macon Bacon(series tied at 1-1) Tuesday evening at Grayson Stadium in front of a sold out crowd 4,000 plus.
Savannah played well tonight with good pitching, good hitting, and excellent base stealing with 12 stolen bases. The Bananas won 10-3.
In the first inning Macon manufactured a run without a hit
on a couple of throwing errors by infielders and a ground out.
Sending 9 batters to the plate in the first inning, Savannah scored 3 runs. Mason Miller,lfGeorgia Southern) was hit by a pitch, stole second, and scored on a single by Clay Dungan,ss(Indiana State)
Dungan scored on a ground out. Justin Dirden,RF(Southeast Missouri State) walked and scored on a single by catcher Connor Hamilton(West Virgina).
In the second inning, Savannah scored 3 runs highlited by a single by Trenton Nash,3b(Middle Georgia State) to drive in 2 runs.
Macon scored a run in the 4th inning on a single by Riley King,3b(Georgia) and he scored on a double by Sean McDermott,1b(Mercer). The final Bacon run was scored in the 6 the inning.
Savannah added 3 runs in the 4th inning and scored their final run in the 8th inning.
The starting pitcher for Savannah, Tyler Follis(Louisiana Tech) pitched 4 innings, allowed 2 runs on 4 hits and struck out 6 batters. Matthew Arias(Erskine college) (W,1-0), pitched 1 inning allowed 1 hit, 1k, and 1BB. Six Banana pitchers struck out at least 1 batter every inning and had 12 strike outs for the game.
Savannah out hit Macon 12-7. Leading hitter for Savannah, Dungan was 3-for-5 with 1RBI and 2 runs scored.
The next Savannah home game is Thursday at Grayson Stadium against the Lexington County Blowfish.
Trenton Nash was 2-for-4 with 4 RBI's and 2 runs scored.
