Savannah Bananas 11 Lexington County Blowfish 2

The Savannah Bananas played the Lexington County Blowfish Friday evening at Grayson Stadium in front of another sold out crowd(4,296)). Savannah exploded for 7 runs in the 7th inning and won 11-2.
Lexington scored first scoring a run in the 2nd inning and scored their final run in the 4th inning.
In the third  inning, Savannah scored 2 runs. Leading off the inning John Cassala,lf(Jacksonville)  singled and moved to second on a single by Max McDougald,3b(Wofford). Both runners advanced a base on a pass ball. A single by Logan Mattix,,cf(Georgia College) scored Cassala. A ground out to third scored McDougald. The Bananas added 2,more runs in the 4th inning.
Sending 12 players to the plate in the 7th inning, Savannah scored 7 runs on 5 hits and 3 errors.
Starting Savannah pitcher, Bryan Cruse(Memphis) won,1-0 pitched 6 innings allowed 2 runs on 6 hits, struck out 8 and walked 2 batters. One run was earned.
Leading hitters for Savannah, Mattix and Cassala were both 3-for-4 with 2RBI's and a run scored. Savannah returns home on Monday at 7:05pm to play the High Point-Thomasville HiToms. The 2016 Savannah team will receive their rings for winning the CPL championship.

Florence RedWolves 7 Savannah Bananas 4

The Savannah Bananas home opener at Historic Grayson Stadium was played Thursday evening in front of a sold out stadium(it was a record crowd of 4,338). The Bananas hosted the Florence RedWolves. Florence won 7-4.
The RedWolves started the game with a double, single, and a double scoring 2 runs in the first inning.
With the bases loaded in the 4th inning, Max McDougald,3b(Wofford) hit a ground ball to second and an error was charged allowing 2 runs to score.
The Bananas added 2 more runs in the 6th inning. L.J. Talley,1b(University of Georgia) tripled and and later scored on a throwing error by the pitcher. The second run scored on a single by McDougald.
Bananas coach Sean West stated the RedWolves were an excellant hitting ball club and they pounded out 14 hits.
Savannah made a good comeback and made the most of their 5 hits scoring 4 runs.
Leading hitters for the RedWolves: Cornell Nixon,cf(Eastern Kentucky) and Mason Hibbeler,ss(Texas)-both were 3-for-5.
Tomorrow night at 7:05, Savannah plays at Grayson Stadium against the Lexington County Blowfish. It was announced the game is sold out.

Savannah Bananas 2 Forrrest City Owls 1

The Savannah Bananas opened the season on the road tonight against the Forrest City Owls. Savannah won 2-1(after 8 innings the score was tied 1-1).
The Bananas home opener is June 1st, Thursday at Grayson Stadium against the Florence RedWolves starting at 7:05pm. It is reported the game is sold out.

Fan Fest 2017

The Savannah Bananas held their Fan Fest today at Grayson Stadium. Fans had a good time at the stadium with plenty of food to eat. Batting practice was enjoyed by many fans in the stands watching. After BP, fans were able meet the players and coaches on the field. Kids enjoyed running the bases.
Tomorrow night the Bananas open their season on the road playing the Forrest City Owls. Fans can listen to the game by going to coastal plain.com and sign up for the CPL WebPass which is free.

Savannah Bananas 4 Gastonia Grizzlies 3

The Savannah Bananas played the Gastonia Grizzlies tonight in an exhibition game at Gastonia, North Carolina.
The Savannah Bananas won 4-3.
Fans can follow their favorite team this summer at the Coastal Plains League web site(coastalplain.com).

Fan Fest

The Savannah Bananas Fan Fest will be held on Monday, May 29th 2017 from 4:00pm to 7:00pm at Grayson Stadium. Fans can pick up their 2017 tickets. Free food and drinks will be served. Fans will be able to meet the players, coaches and watch batting practice. The picture was taken at the 2016 Fan Fest.

Beer Fest

Today was the Savannah Bananas Beer Fest at Historic Grayson Stadium where fans were able to choose their favorite beer from 100 beers on the beer list.
It was a beautiful afternoon at the ball park for the fans to mingle, socialize, and drink their favorite beer or try a new beer.
Emily Cole informed me the afternoon session had more fans than the morning session and she reports over 1,000 people attended the event. The event seemed to be very successful and I asked Emily if this will be an annual event and she said, "I think it will." I enjoyed attending the afternoon session and enjoyed visiting with friends.
